Obtree Livelink WCM to RedDot migration

25 June 2009 by Simon Mone

It has actually been underway for a while but I have been a little busy and have neglected to blog about it. We are now well into a migration from Obtree (Livelink WCM PS) to RedDot for a UK public sector client. We are currently moving six sites the largest of which is about 14 000 pages and so far everything is going very well. It has given us a good opportunity to load test the software in a less 'controlled' way than before. We have completed the content type design and I am in the process of writing up the mappings which have also been agreed. So, we will have a page to page (and object to content element etc) mapping and also an abstracted mapping to implement in the mim:switch Obtree to RedDot migration tool.

Once we have the RedDot content classes built on the client's server we will start the test runs. Watch this space.

Im impressed.  I dont think Ive met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do.  Youre truly well informed and very intelligent.  You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone.  Really, great blog youve got here.

Good luck getting people behind this one.  Though you make some VERY fascinating points, youre going to have to do more than bring up a few things that may be different than what weve already heard.  What are trying to say here?  What do you want us to think?  It seems like you cant really get behind a unique thought.  Anyway, thats just my opinion.

Hey - nice website, just looking around some blogs, seems a really nice platform you are using. I'm currently using Wordpress for a few of my websites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?

This is one of the most incredible blogs Ive read in a very long time.  The amount of information in here is stunning, like you practically wrote the book on the subject.  Your blog is great for anyone who wants to understand this subject more.  Great stuff; please keep it up!

I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
