The saga continues - Open Text, RedDot and Vignette

25 September 2009 by Simon Mone

CMSWire have published an interesting article on the future of their WCM offerings, RedDot and Vignette of course not Obtree or Gauss.I'm not going to comment on this, there are plenty of comments on the CMSWire page except to say that anyone who is thinking of migrating from Obtree to Vignette should get in touch, we can do that too.

Read the article for yourself here.

Obtree to EPiServer loader

19 August 2009 by Simon Mone

I have just been shown the new mim:switch EPiServer loader in action. We now have an end to end solution to migrate from Obtree/Livelink WCM to EPiServer. This is great news as we have seen a lot of interest in the EPiServer WCM and rightly so  as CMS Watch put it "Outside of Scandinavia, EPiServer is still one of the better kept secrets in the CMS business."

Now for Obtree users a simple way to migrate all of your content into a new Episerver site. Call for a demo.

Obtree to RedDot Migration project

12 August 2009 by Simon Mone

It's been a while since I blogged. I have been on leave and then became entrenched in the joys of public sector tender response. Meanwhile the team here have been going great guns with the migration from Obtree to RedDot for a large UK Council. The development runs are complete and we are just waiting for sign off on these before we begin the live runs. So far everything has gone reasonably welland now we have some real live metrics to draw on such as the fact that the load for the main site into RedDot took 52 hours. This seems a lot but it was over 10 000 pages and associated assets etc. Pretty good stuff.

Obtree Livelink WCM to RedDot migration Part 2

30 June 2009 by Simon Mone

RedDot version 9 was installed at the client's site today (well done Ken). Now the real fun begins. I find that I'm quite excited to see how the migration runs go. It's funny because migration runs were probably the most boring activity I was involved in during my time with Vamosa, the projects were interesting but the grey screens!! Now we have our very own grey screens and I can't wait (relatively speaking).

If you are interested in a demo of our Livelink WCM to RedDot migration tool please just get in touch and I'm happy to set up a WebEx.

Obtree Livelink WCM to RedDot migration

25 June 2009 by Simon Mone

It has actually been underway for a while but I have been a little busy and have neglected to blog about it. We are now well into a migration from Obtree (Livelink WCM PS) to RedDot for a UK public sector client. We are currently moving six sites the largest of which is about 14 000 pages and so far everything is going very well. It has given us a good opportunity to load test the software in a less 'controlled' way than before. We have completed the content type design and I am in the process of writing up the mappings which have also been agreed. So, we will have a page to page (and object to content element etc) mapping and also an abstracted mapping to implement in the mim:switch Obtree to RedDot migration tool.

Once we have the RedDot content classes built on the client's server we will start the test runs. Watch this space.
