We're looking to expand the development team here at Mimtech and at this time we have a requirement for a senior developer. Rather than list all our wants & desires here I've attached the job description as a PDF. We anticipate growing again early next year and will be looking to fill a less senior position at that time so ideally we'd love to hear from candidates for both a junior and a senior position. I've not included any salary information with the job description, salary will be based on the relevant experience of the successful candidate.
Look very much forward to hearing from you.

Here at Mimtech HQ we're all about the content. We love content, amongst other things. We also love technology and we especially love that most symbiotic of relationships where technology meets content.

..and so on.
We love the way we can manipulate, enhance and deliver content via technology, it's kind of what makes us tick. But despite all the advances in media and internet technologies what we do with the content once it has been rendered to the browser has not evolved dramatically since the mid 1990's.
You may think this sounds odd and may be questioning the whereabouts of my glass sphericals but it's true. We view it, we look at it, we read it. Once it's there it's there and viewing it is pretty much, in the grand scheme of things, all we can do.
Imagine, though, if there was another layer of functionality, imagine if we could then click on the content and do something else with it beyond the browser. Imagine if we could click on a set of contact details and add those directly to our Outlook address book or click on an event and add that directly to our calendars? Well guess what, now we can!
Enter Microformats!
Microformats are a way of presenting common types of content using already existing web markup standards so that it can be easily recognised and extracted by software other than the browser. I won't ramble further but instead point you to these links for further info and ask that you watch this space, I'll report back once I've had a good play about.

In a world of persistent change it's great to be able to put down roots or at least feel that there are certain things that you can depend upon. Yesterday saw the latest, and if word on the street rings true, possibly the final release from proven pioneers of blues based rock, AC/DC. From all my years of listening to rock music, probably pushing 30 now (I was an early starter) AC/DC are one of those bands that have continually hit the nail on the head each time. While my rock musical tastes have diversified and expanded to allow space for more modern takes on the genre I've never forgotten those roots.
I remember as a 9 year old boy pleading with my mum to let me buy the new AC/DC album, 'Highway to Hell', whilst we weren't a religious family my dear mum had her reservations about the impact that a record with so many connotations in it's title and a man on the front with devil horns might have on an impressionable young boy. However, rationality and possibly some tears and snotters won through and I was soon the proud owner of said vinyl which is still one of my prized pieces in a collection that's pushing 500 plus, that's just the vinyl by the way, my cd collection is possibly double that.
Thankfully today there will be no emotional blackmail needed as I take myself off to the shops to purchase the rock legends latest release 'Black Ice' and there will be just as much excitement as I take it home to listen to it as there was nearly 30 years ago. I know exactly what I'm going to get, there will be no surpises, AC/DC have never really pushed the boundaries but what they do, they do so well and it's that dependable and persistent quality that makes them the best. For those of you reading this that think they can sniff the obvious analogy here, no such luck, I'd never be so crass, besides Mimtech continually push the boundaries of what we can do!

Today we demo'ed our mim:switch software to the RedDot guys in Germany and Switzerland to show them how our toolset works. We showed the extraction of the content, metadata (custom properties) and object relationships from the Livelink WCM demo site, its manipulation to repurpose the content and the loading into a fresh empty RedDot 7.5 site.
Unlike almost every technical demonstration I have done, this one went without a hitch. The software did what it should, the connection speeds for the Webex presentation stayed broad enough to allow a reasonable demo and I even managed to remember all of the steps without being nudged in the ribs. The reaction was very positive.
If any Obtree/Livelink WCM users or any WCM techies would like to see a similar demo or would like to find out more please feel free to contact us on +44 (0)141 303 8239 or enquiries@mimtech.com.
